Before Pantalones was born, there were cotton panties from the local market.
When I was a child, my grandma used to buy me underwear there – simple, soft, and comfortable. Back then, no one talked about certifications or sustainability, but that underwear was just right: natural and kind to the skin. Years went by, and those good old market panties started to disappear. All that was left on store shelves was mostly polyamide, scratchy lace, and waistbands that dig into your hips.
The idea for Pantalones came to life in 2013, during my studies at a Danish design university. That’s where I first encountered the concept of sustainable fashion – conscious, responsible, and rooted in respect for people and the planet, rather than chasing trends and profit. Working in fashion used to be my dream, but once I saw the industry from the inside, I realized how much harm it causes. It quickly became clear that if I wanted to stay in it, it had to be on my own terms.
I knew I wanted to create something that made sense. Something close to the body – and close to my values. That’s how the idea for a lingerie brand was born: simple, natural, comfortable, and made with care. I started building Pantalones.
The first collection came from a real need – mine and my friends’. We couldn’t find underwear that was truly soft, durable, and simply healthy. The kind you don’t have to constantly adjust, that doesn’t leave marks on your skin. Instead of being frustrated by the endless sea of polyamide, I decided to make the perfect pair of panties myself.
From day one, I knew GOTS-certified organic cotton would be the foundation of everything. I wanted materials free from toxins, pesticides, and synthetic chemicals – because underwear is the most intimate piece of clothing, closest to our skin. To this day, we only use certified fabrics, ensuring that every step – from farming to dyeing – meets strict environmental and ethical standards.
We were the first brand in Poland to use GOTS-certified fabrics for the entire material – including the dyeing process (certificate no. 1010800). Our prints are created with eco-friendly pigments in a printing house that also meets these standards (certificate no. 1099579).
Our entire production takes place in Poland – in small, local sewing studios. We work with women who bring years of experience and a whole lot of heart into their craft.
We don’t use plastic in our packaging, we minimize waste and give leftovers a second life – turning them into scrunchies, pouches, or headbands. We also support organizations doing great work for people and the planet – including the Space for Girls Foundation, Biebrza National Park, and Poznań’s Podzielnia.
Today, Pantalones is more than just a lingerie brand.
It’s a community of women who make conscious choices. It’s comfort without compromise. It’s products that fit well – and last for years.
Since we launched, we've delivered our “majtasy” to over 1,000 women who keep coming back – because once you join the comfy side, there’s no going back to your old underwear.
As they say: once you try the good stuff, there’s no untrying it.
With love,
Beata – founder of Pantalones
